This story of "Rinkitink in Oz " was written in 1905 , during a period when the author was fairly insistent upon having no connection between his stories . The Hornersville incident in " Ozma of Oz " was omitted from later editions because the first edition states that Button Bright was lost in Kansas , while it is known he is later found in Philadelphia . This book is not intended to meet the needs of any particular age; I wrote it for children and those who enjoy reading fantasy. For those who have already read some of the Oz books, I hope this tale will provide new characters to delight in and further adventures to enjoy . May it serve as a source of wonder and joy to all who read it.
