Technological advancements have often led to environmental degradation. During the last few decades rapid industrialization, indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and expanding population have led to deterioration and degradation of our environment causing various types of pollution like air, water, land, noise, automobiles and so on. The new threat in this chain is radiation or radioactive pollution. Radiation pollution is comparatively nevser term but its consequences are disastrous. We cannot perceive the radiation pollution by our normal senses, so we can say it the silent killer. Every now and than we hear or read about nuclear disasters increasing radioactivity of the environment. Though we are exposed to natural radiation from the time immemorial but we are evolved in this environment and our body is accustomed for such radiation. Anthropogenic or manmade sources of radiation are highly destructive and cause enormous harm to man, animal, plants and other living beings.
