    FUNDAMENTALS OF MODERN PHYSICS

It gives us enormous pleasure and satisfaction in bringing out the Eight edition of ‘‘Fundamental of Modern Physics’’. The book has been thoroughly revised and new material has been added in practically every chapter to keep pace with the changing syllabii. The book has now been divided in six units. Unit 1 deals with Relativity, Unit 2 deals with Atomic Physics, Unit 3 discusses Molecular and Laser Physics, Unit 4 describes the details of Nuclear Physics, Unit 5 discusses at length the Quantum Mechanics while Unit 6 deals with Solid State Physics, discussing the latest material on Nano Physics. Thus no part, basically of Modern Physics, has been left untouched. The chapter of Maxwell’s equations and Electromagnetic Waves has been deleted because it did not fit the main stream of the text. Noteable additions in this edition are : 1. Molecular spectra and Raman effect. 2. Superconductivity. 3. Nano Physics.
