Metamorphic changes made by different countries in recent years in their macro economic policy have brought about tectonic developments in corporate world in terms of globalisation of markets, free flow of capital and goods, increased economic interdependencies and foray of transnationals in every conceivable sector have rendered the business milieu highly complex and competitive. Business enterprises particularly in developing countries like india operating hitherto in highly sheltered and subsidized system are finding it extremely difficult to compete with the transnationals in terms of cost, quality and speed. Coping with the challenges of survival and growth calls for paradigm shift in their approach of managing business is receiving greater attention of the top management.
