Essays on Indian Government and Politics

The idea of a commemorative volume on ‘Indian Government and Politics’ was first conceived in the year 1997 by the Political Science Department of Janki Devi Memorial College when the Golden Jubilee of India’s Independence was being celebrated all over the country. The new course in Indian Government and Politics had just been introduced in the University of Delhi and need was felt for a book which would cover the syllabus and review the functioning of our government and politics in the last fifty years. Our Department endeavoured to bring out the book on the new course in the form of essays written by teachers of our department on any topic/s they liked within the framework of the new syllabus. A three member Editorial Board was set up to co-ordinate the collective effort of book writing by the Department.
