In the last decade there had been tremendous developments in biological sciences, which resulted in the establishment of several new branches viz. Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Environmental Biology, Toxicology, Bioslatistics, etc. This necessiated the revision of university syllabi to incorporate the study of these advancements. Several new experiments now appear in practical syllabi too. The author felt the need of thoroughly revising the present book of A Text Book of Practical Botany Vol II to provide latest and uptodatc study material to the students. In conformity with the requirement of the revised syllabi, new chapters such as Biostatistics, Environmental Biology, Cell Biology, Illustrated Glossary of Anatomical Terms, etc. have been included in the book. Almost every chapter has been rewritten and modified. The book has taxonomic description of 112 species of plants belonging to 40 families. These are expected to cover almost all common plants available for practical classes throughout the country. The chapter on Anatomy now includes the study of cell inclusions and epidermal studies. The present chapter on Cytology and Genetics now carries additional exercises on Mcndelism and the study of plant cell organelles and chromosomes. In the end. Appendix has been added which includes few additional helpful techniques and recipes of reagents, stains, fixing, agents, etc. The index has also been included that deals with the chapterwise lists of botaincal names to facilitate easy location of the plants and the subject matter of the book.
